چکیده

Bioresorbable stents (BRS) potential in treating coronary heart disease is still to be further developed. Current trends include research with new polymeric materials, the need for thinner struts combined appropriate mechanical properties, radiopacity and optimized local drug delivery. This work presents a novel solvent-cast direct-write (SC-DW) printing system manufacture BRS onto rotating cylinder poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) poly(l-lactic-co-ɛ-caprolactone) (PLCL) inks. Printed were characterized terms of mechanical, thermal biological properties human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Expansion assays showed that withstood pressures at least 16 atm indirect cytotoxicity test indicated biocompatible. Polymeric inks modified addition 3 radiopaque agents, namely iodine, triiodobenzoic (TIBA) barium sulfate (BaSO4) render radiopaque. Subsequent characterization general increase strut thickness respect control PLLA or PLCL stents, which turn resulted higher resistance compression. Microcomputed tomography was used assess stents’ radiopacity, showing TIBA BaSO4-containing presented high X-ray attenuation values maintained their after months incubation time.

Fabrication of micro-axicons using direct-laser writing.

A novel direct-laser writing fabrication process for micro-axicons is demonstrated. A fiber-axicon-generated Bessel beam was utilized to write on UV-curable optical epoxy to form new axicons and axicon arrays, and geometrical parameters of the replicated epoxy axicons were analyzed in terms of both apex angle and proximity of the writing axicons. The shape of the fabricated axicons was demonstr...

Solvent cast technology – a versatile tool for thin film production

From the end of the 19th century, the development of a process for manufacturing thin plastic films was tightly linked to the emerging industry for movies and photographic films. 5 mil (125 micron) film was produced using a discontinuous device with a caster moving over 200 feet long glass plates at Eastman KODAK [1]. Soon, first patents were issued to cast celluloid films on a moving surface b...

Neural Transplantation as a Strategy for Recovery of CNS Functions

Transplants of neural tissue have been used for nearly 100 years in order to clarify the mechanisms that underlie development and regeneration of the nervous system. With reports from Sweden and Mexico that autografts of adrenal medulla produce at least transient and perhaps dramatic improvement in patients severly disabled by Parkinson's disease, the techniques of neural transplantation have ...

Design and Fabrication of Tubular Scaffolds via Direct Writing in a Melt Electrospinning Mode

Non-fouling surfaces that resist non-specific adsorption of proteins, bacteria, and higher organisms are of particular interest in diverse applications ranging from marine coatings to diagnostic devices and biomedical implants. Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is the most frequently used polymer to impart surfaces with such non-fouling properties. Nevertheless, limitations in PEG stability have stim...

Cooling rate optimization of as-cast consciously cast steel

Abstract: A combination of a finite element method (FEM) algorithm with ANSYS codes and post image processing of NDT ultrasonic images along with laboratory cooling experiments and microstructural analysis provide a guideline to determine the optimum cooling rate for any grade of steel in which the highest productivity can be achieved without any degradation of the cast steel products. The sugg...
